Sicoob, a cooperative financial institution, inaugurated a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 152.82 kWp, located at the headquarters of the Sicoob Corporate Center (CCS) in Brasília (DF). The plant comprises a system comprising 283 solar panels.
According to Sicoob, the plant will contribute to the annual reduction of approximately 70 tons of carbon emissions. There were several contributions to the implementation of this system, which guarantees, among other things, the mitigation of the impact of the greenhouse effect.
Among those involved in talking about the action are Antônio Vilaça Júnior, executive director of Information Technology at Sicoob. He highlighted the impact of the environmental and financial benefits of this initiative. Brasília has one of the best levels of solar radiation in Brazil, which justifies the construction of the photovoltaic plant, thus accelerating the development of the region.
Another point to be considered is the speech of Dênio Rodrigues, superintendent of Infrastructure and IT Operations at Sicoob, who estimates annual savings of more than R$ 116.5 thousand with the plant. This amount can be directed to other improvement projects that promote financial and sustainable benefits for both Sicoob and society. Photovoltaic solar energy is considered a clean and renewable source of energy, in line with Sicoob's sustainability strategy and ESG agenda, points out Rodrigues.
Implementing a plant of this size reinforces Sicoob's commitment to good sustainability practices and solutions that can boost local development. The effects of the energy transition can be felt in many ways, making the practice of thinking about tomorrow a strategy for today.
The photovoltaic plant recently inaugurated by Sicoob is expected to operate for a minimum period of 15 years, which can be extended to 25 years, maintaining its power generation capacity above 80% of the current nominal capacity.
Sicoob's photovoltaic plant is one of the projects that form part of the institution's ESG agenda, which encompasses a series of initiatives aimed at promoting and adopting sustainable practices. This plant joins other Sicoob projects that encourage sustainability and contribute to a positive impact on the environment.
