A group of nine leading companies in the solar energy industry are calling for measures to standardize solar panels and solve problems related to the supply and waste of raw materials during manufacturing. The proposal, presented jointly to the international market, provides for the adoption of a single size for the solar panels, with measurements centered on 2,382 mm x 1,134 mm, and a standard spacing with lateral holes for fixing the modules, with measurements centered on 400 mm/790 mm/1400 mm.
Companies require that solar panels follow Technical Specification T/CPIA 0003-2022, developed by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA). The proposed standardization would bring important technological advances to the solar industry, such as the production of greater power in energy generation and the optimization of the space used, which would reduce the costs of the generation system.
The nine companies demanding this standardization are Trina Solar, JinkoSolar, JA Solar, Longi, Risen, Canadian Solar, Tongwei, Astronergy and DAS Solar. Together, they seek to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the photovoltaic industry through the adoption of measures that promote energy efficiency.
The proposed standardization of “rectangular wafers” is an important initiative for the solar industry and can bring significant benefits to the sector. The adoption of a single size for the manufacture of solar panels can simplify the production process and reduce the costs involved. In addition, standardization can contribute to improving the quality of solar panels and increasing the energy efficiency of generation systems.
