Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program Is Approved for Solar Energy

Law nº 14.620/2023 was enacted today, July 14, which marks the resumption of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program. The sanction and publication of the law in the Official Gazette of the Union brings significant measures to boost the electricity sector in Brazil. With the approval of the government, the legislation establishes comprehensive guidelines for the modernization of the sector, focusing on the promotion of renewable sources, expansion of distributed generation, implementation of smart grids and stimulus to energy efficiency.

The new law also seeks to improve the energy auction system, aiming to ensure greater competitiveness and transparency in the contracting processes. In addition, the objective is to promote energy security and achieve universal access to electricity, thus contributing to the country's sustainable development.

One of the main innovations brought by the law is the investment in the Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program. The government included the veto to article 37 and article 38 of the MP of Minha Casa, Minha Vida, highlighting the intervention of the Ministry of the Environment to deal with the impacts of activities on underserved populations.

To promote the democratization of energy, the National Institute for Clean and Sustainable Energy (Inel) will guarantee 50% of the minimum billable amount to beneficiaries registered in CadÚnico. In addition, they will become part of the financial compensation system. Solar energy will play a key role in the program's budget, with emphasis on training leaders to operate photovoltaic systems.

This law represents a significant step forward on the road to renewable and sustainable energy, by democratizing access to energy and enabling the necessary investments to boost the country's progress. With it, Brazil takes an important step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
