PivotBuoy Innovates Offshore Generation Way

Recently, in Spain, a system was created that has drawn attention: an aerogenerator capable of moving in the direction of the wind to generate electricity. This technological innovation promises to revolutionize the production of renewable energy on the high seas. The floating wind turbine is mounted on a platform that moves in the direction of the wind, allowing for greater efficiency in energy generation. In addition, this technology can be installed in deep waters, where the wind speed is higher and more constant, which further increases its efficiency. The system is called PivotBuoy.

The new technology is called X30 and has a design that speeds up and makes the installation process cheaper. The aim is to reduce the costs of producing offshore renewable energy and make it more affordable. The floating wind turbine prototype was successfully tested in the Canary Islands, Spain. The expectation is that this technological innovation can be expanded and used on a large scale throughout the world.

A Floating Offshore Wind Platform, also known as Floating Offshore Wind Platform (FOWP), is a substructure that provides buoyancy and stability for the wind turbine. This substructure can be made of concrete, steel, or a combination of both. It is important to note that some people call FOWP a “floating foundation”, however, this term is not correct, as floating platforms are not founded on the seabed, but anchored and tied down.

FOWP is an important technological innovation for offshore renewable energy production. This technology allows wind turbines to be installed in deep waters, where the wind speed is higher and more constant, which increases efficiency in power generation. In addition, floating platforms are easier to install and maintain than conventional turbines, which reduces production costs.

The floating wind turbine is one of several technologies being developed to optimize offshore renewable energy production. These innovations are important for reducing dependence on fossil fuels and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Furthermore, these technologies have the potential to make renewable energy production more affordable and efficient.
