Solar energy continues to gain prominence in Brazil, attracting significant investments. According to the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLAR), the sector received more than R$ 30 billion in investments throughout the first half of 2023. These investments cover both distributed generation and centralized generation, demonstrating the continued and significant growth of solar energy in the country.
Since the beginning of the expansion of the source, solar energy has accumulated more than R$ 151 billion in investments, with more than R$ 105 billion destined for own generation and more than R$ 46 billion directed to large plants.
Investments are at the level of increasing the potential for producing clean energy in Brazil. The growth of photovoltaic energy has many benefits, in addition to promoting sustainability, issues related to the financial relief of many families. One important issue is that this process favors the competitiveness of the sector in Brazil.
Another point to be evaluated is in terms of jobs. Approximately 200,000 jobs associated with the solar energy sector were created in 2023. In total, there were around 918,000 jobs. For 2023, more than 1 million jobs will be generated in the country.
Another important point for the sector is the collection of taxes. Solar energy was responsible for raising 44.5 million in investments. In addition, 39 million tons of CO2 were prevented from being released into the atmosphere.
These significant investments in the solar energy sector demonstrate the potential and growing importance of this renewable source in Brazil's energy landscape, driving the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy matrix.
