On July 20th, the Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of the renowned Brazilian company embraer, thrilled the public by announcing the inauguration of the first factory for electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL) in Taubaté, located in the interior of São Paulo. With the aim of revolutionizing air transport, the company plans to launch the first models of the long-awaited “flying cars” as early as 2026.
The strategic decision to choose Taubaté as the factory's headquarters was based on several advantageous factors. In addition to being a region close to important highways, the location also benefits from the proximity to a railway line, which will facilitate the distribution and transport logistics of these innovative air vehicles. Even though the project is already in a stage organized by Embraer, it is important to highlight that the completion of the operations is subject to the approval of the competent authorities.
The objective is to offer products that are safe and competitive and that are also ecologically responsible. In this way, the proposal to bring the eVTOL technology to the Brazilian context starts to boost and dominate society with transport alternatives.
Since 2022, Eve Air Mobility has established a strategic partnership with Porsche Consulting for the production of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL). Porsche Consulting has been responsible for defining the production strategy, ensuring the supply chain and logistics for the process of creating the “flying cars”, with a focus on innovation, expansion and sustainability.
In addition to creating electrical prototypes, companies have highlighted the importance of creating a portfolio of solutions, including a software unique urban air traffic management system, which aims to optimize and expand air mobility operations around the world.
With the installation of the first eVTOL factory in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, scheduled to start operating in 2026, Eve Air Mobility is preparing to enter the air mobility market with innovative and sustainable solutions.
In 2022, orders for eVTOL flying cars already amounted to 2,770 units. This value exceeds US$ 8.3 billion with an estimated price per trip, per person of up to US$ 100. Eve has already been selected for an experimental regulatory environment. The company aims to transport people to and from airports, as well as scenic flights over tourist spots.
The use of electric motors in Eve Air Mobility's flying cars not only contributes to environmental sustainability, but also makes the aircraft quieter. This means that a greater number of “flying cars” will be able to operate in large urban centers without generating noise pollution, unlike helicopters, for example. This feature is critical to the acceptance and feasibility of using eVTOLs in densely populated urban areas.
