Brazil seeks to stand out in the transition to a more sustainable energy matrix, with the objective of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases. To boost this goal, the government created the Support Program for the Technological Development of the Semiconductor Industry (PADIS), which benefits companies that invest in research, development and innovation in this sector.
Recently, the government published a decree that included photovoltaic modules in the PADIS, granting them a “zero rate” on four taxes: Import Tax, Tax on Industrialized Products, Social Integration Program and Social Contribution on Net Income.
This inclusion aims to boost semiconductor production and generate quality jobs in different states. In addition, it aims to stimulate innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing. PADIS is also expected to increase investments in green infrastructure and new clean energy plants in various regions of the country. This practice can strengthen the solar energy sector.
